The primary purpose of the mckenzie community development corporation (mcdc) is to advocate for and support economic, environmental, and community well-being in the mckenzie river valley. The mckenzie river valley consists of unincorporated communities located on approximately 50 miles of highway 126 and along the mckenzie river east of springfield, oregon.

Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 28

Oleary trail loop restoration - the mcdc served as fiscal agent for the o'leary trail loop restoration project. This project created a mountain biking trail worthy of the international mountain bicycling association's epic designation. The new 19.1 mile trail provides a distinct recreational experience to hundreds of community residents and visitors annually, as well as an economic boost from tourists in the mckenzie river valley who use the trail. A now annual biking event called mckenzie frenzy features the trail.

Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 29

Childrens forest development - the usda forest service childrens forest program has four national goals: 1. Connect children, adults, and families to healthy outdoor experiences 2. Create new education and career opportunities 3. Foster an understanding of how the changing environment affects the world and how people can work together to embrace these changes 4. Provide professional development opportunities for educators with an emphasis on conservation and the natural world the mckenzie cdc is providing leadership to develop a childrens forest in the mckenzie river valley through the organizations resource assistance for rural environments (rare) americorps member, ashley adelman. So far, ms. Adelman has provided background information, helped to expand the number of partners involved in the project, organized strategic planning meetings for the project, and provided regular communications to partners to share progress. When accomplished, the childrens forest will provide educational opportunity to students in schools throughout the area, provide additional recreational opportunity in the mckenzie river valley, and boost economic benefit to local businesses, especially those connected to tourism.

Form 990-ez, Part V, Line 33

In 2016, after a time of re-organization, the mcdc was created from the combining of the mckenzie river action team and the blue river community development corporation (brcdc). The mcdc serves as an umbrella organization to address important community needs in collaboration with other organizations across a geographic scope that includes, better than previous organizations, the entire mckenzie river watershed valley.

Form 990-ez, Part V, Line 34

The brcdc articles of incorporation were re-stated to designate a name change from blue river community development corporation to mckenzie community development corporation, and bylaws were adopted for the mcdc. The mcdc retains the tax identification number and the non-profit status of the former brcdc. See attached: amended organizing document
