Activity 2

Klamath basin: snw is working to resolve conflict, build trust and propel efforts for wide scale restoration of the ecology of the basin. For over 10 years sustainable northwest has worked with community leaders in the klamath basin to design solutions that benefit fisheries, agriculture and the regional economy. The process has resulted in two companion "settlement" agreements for restoration that have the support of leaders of more than 25 stakeholder groups representing farmers, ranchers, native americans, fisherman, environmentalists, and representatives from county, state and federal government.

Activity 3

Community energy:since snw began working on clean energy projects, the number of facilities in oregon using locally sourced biomass as a source of fuel has increased from 2 to 18 in the last four years. The result is that many small communities have saved hundreds of thousands of dollars on heating costs. Now snw is sharing our experiences and lessons learned to become a key player in shaping state energy policy, while continuing to invest in renewable energy that helps local communities save money, restore their landscapes, and create living wage jobs.
