The purpose of this organization is to work for the solution of the problems of the farm, the farm home, and the rural community, by the use of the recognized advantages of organized action to the end that those engaged in the various branches of agriculture may have and secure opportunities for happiness and prosperity in their chosen occupations; to foster, promote, represent, protect and advance the educatonal, social and economic interests of the farmers of marion county.

The purpose of this organization is to work for the solution of the problems of the farm, the farm home, and the rural community, by the use of the recognized advantages of organized action to the end that those engaged in the various branches of agriculture may have and secure opportunities for happiness and prosperity in their chosen occupations. Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 29

Marion county farm bureau (mcfb) provides scholarships to it's local members such as the mary petzel memorial scholarship - is made available to any immediate member of a marion county farm bureau family preparing to enter a junior college, or a four-year college or university in the state of oregon in an agricultual related major; and, other ag or non-ag related study scholarships. Mcfb also provides access to scholarships provided by the oregon farm bureau and other related organizations such as summer ag institute - a project of the oregon agricultural educaton foundation, which is a three-credit week-long, graduate-level class through oregon state university that educates k-12 teachers with little or no background in agriculture; and, ofb memorial scholarships with 10-12 awards annually are open to any oregon high school graduate preparing for an agriculture or forestry related career. Students attending institutions outside of oregon are also eligible.

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt3MARION COUNTY FARM BUREAU (MCFB) PROVIDES SCHOLARSHIPS TO IT'S LOCAL MEMBERS SUCH AS THE MARY PETZEL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - IS MADE AVAILABLE TO ANY IMMEDIATE MEMBER OF A MARION COUNTY FARM BUREAU FAMILY PREPARING TO ENTER A JUNIOR COLLEGE, OR A FOUR-YEAR COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY IN THE STATE OF OREGON IN AN AGRICULTUAL RELATED MAJOR; AND, OTHER AG OR NON-AG RELATED STUDY SCHOLARSHIPS. MCFB ALSO PROVIDES ACCESS TO SCHOLARSHIPS PROVIDED BY THE OREGON FARM BUREAU AND OTHER RELATED ORGANIZATIONS SUCH AS SUMMER AG INSTITUTE - A PROJECT OF THE OREGON AGRICULTURAL EDUCATON FOUNDATION, WHICH IS A THREE-CREDIT WEEK-LONG, GRADUATE-LEVEL CLASS THROUGH OREGON STATE UNIVERSITY THAT EDUCATES K-12 TEACHERS WITH LITTLE OR NO BACKGROUND IN AGRICULTURE; AND, OFB MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS WITH 10-12 AWARDS ANNUALLY ARE OPEN TO ANY OREGON HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE PREPARING FOR AN AGRICULTURE OR FORESTRY RELATED CAREER. STUDENTS ATTENDING INSTITUTIONS OUTSIDE OF OREGON ARE ALSO ELIGIBLE.
