“Daughters of norway is composed of a grand lodge and 30 subordinate lodges. The goals of the organization include: to unite into a sisterhood, women who wish to preserve norwegian heritage to maintain among members a knowledge of the history, culture, and language of norway to build a stong support system and bond of friendship within the sisterhood the grand lodge is the umbrella organization that forms and disbands subordinate lodges, promotes cultural opportunities, holds biennial conventions to promote the interaction of like-minded women, publishes a bimonthly newspaper for the membership called dotre av norge, oversees a scholarship program for college students, maintains the non-profit status of the entire organization, and conducts other business that is deemed in the interests of norwegian-american women and the scandinavian population in general.”

“Our first goal is to support and promote the preservation of our scandinavian heritage. Provide support and information to the public and members through our website; publish a bi-monthly newsletter (dotre av norge) communicating to our members the monthly activities of all the lodges; publish traditional scandinavian folk music; impart knowledge and information at various scandinavian festivals accross the country.”

“Scholarships the grand lodge daughters of norway offers scholarships to full-time college, university, technical or vocational students who are either a member of, or related to a member of the daughters of norway. Three 1,000 scholarships were awarded in the current fiscal year.”

“Semi-annually, grand lodge meetings are hosted by lodges across the country to conduct business and promote the dissemination of information to the lodge members. Bi-annually, a national convention is hosted by one or more lodges to conduct business, elect officers, and provide cultural and educational programs relating to our scandinavian heritage.”
