Mission and Program Overview

Mission

To provide a successful learning environment for students with learning disabilities, attention deficits, and other learning differences. It offers a wide range of academic programs and extracurricular activities with accommodations to meet the needs of its learners. The school serves students in grades 4-12 from a geographical region ranging from Issaquah, to Everett, to Bainbridge Island, To Tacoma, and everywhere in between.

New horizon school is a private day school for students, grades 4-12, who have learning (see sch. O) differences such as learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder, autism and others. We strive to provide a learning environment that allows each student to achieve their academic potential, build self-confidence and enhance social skills so they can become contributing members of society. Founded in 1995, the school has served over 400 students and their families.

Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 6

The organization recognizes all parent(s) or guardian(s) of student(s) enrolled at new horizon school as members of the organization. The rights of the organization's members include: 1. Each member has the right to attend all regular open board meetings as well as the annual membership meeting and discuss their concerns for new horizon school and vote on the election of the board of directors for the coming school year. 2. Each member has the right to vote on the removal of any member of the board of directors at a special member meeting. 3. Each member has the right to vote on the removal of the entire board of directors at a special member meeting with an exception of the chief executive officer/administrator and the business director.

Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 18

Upon request the organization will make copies of the requested documents to mail, or have available to review in their offices. The 990 is also made available through www.guidestar.org
