IRS990/Desc0As the only independent middle school for highly capable learners in Olympia, Washington, NOVA was voted the Best of South Sound in 2023 and 2024. Our program is more than an advanced curriculum, it is a well-rounded education that empowers our students to be themselves and grow. Because middle schoolers do best when they have a say in their own education, we offer robust student-driven enrichment classes that range from arts-basedclasses to tech-focused classes and everything in between. Our core classes (Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Spanish) also provide the opportunity for student-led projects that enhance the curriculum. Each student is encouraged to shape their own learning experiences. This continues in our 7th grade service requirement where students choose what organizations and causes they would like to support through volunteering. As 8th graders, each student chooses a skill they would like to begin or hone and turn that into a year-long project that requires them to study with a community mentor and give a presentation to the entire school at the end of the year about what they learned and accomplished. Our students go on to be passionate leaders that believe in their ability to create change in their community.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0We believe enrolling in NOVA Middle School is an investment in the future because we give more than an education and support each student with our holistic approach. This approach in our curriculum extends to our financial aid process which is need-based and uses quantitative information. We are committed to making our school accessible to anyone that can benefit from a NOVA education, regardless of their financial circumstances. In the 2023-2024 school year, we awarded financial assistance to approximately 40% of our student body, with awards up to 90% of the tuition cost. We also make sure to offer flexible options for payment of tuition in recognition of diverse circumstances.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0We offer 2 weeks of summer camp every year for all kids who are going into 4, 5, and 6th grade in the fall. We have many different class options that are very popular. Most, if not all, of the teachers are either NOVA teachers or NOVA alumni. Another way to keep our current students and alum engaged is to have them return as volunteers. The primary purpose of our camp is to expand the NOVA experience to younger kids and potential students in the future.
