“OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: Writers in the Schools - WITS is our award-winning literary arts education program dedicated to inspiring students and improving reading and writing in public K-12 classrooms and hospital rooms through in-school, yearlong residencies with local professional writers. In 2014/15 WITS partnered with twenty-one schools in four school districts and Seattle Childrens Hospital to serve over 6,100 ethnically and culturally diverse students, nearly half of whom live in poverty. Over the past twenty years, we have inspired-and improved the reading and writing of-more than 100,000 students. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: SAL Presents - SAL Presents events include authors, artists and prominent thinkers discussing their latest work, and other literary surprises. In 2014/15, we presented Nicholas Kristof, Ann Hamilton, The Moth MainStage, and an evening with Judy Blume in conversation with Nancy Pearl. Across our events, we had 6,681 attendees. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 6: Poetry Series - Our Poetry Series celebrated its 15th season by presenting Ted Kooser, Matthea Harvey, Sherman Alexie, Timothy Donnelly, Lucie Brock-Broido and Terrance Hayes. We had 2,834 attendees.”
