Mission

The mission of Shipley Center is to enrich the lives of adults through social, health and fitness activities, trips, educational classes, low-income housing opportunities and referrals to community resources. As part of our mission to provide "low-income housing opportunities", Sequim Senior Services operates Baywood Village as a non-profit age 55+ adult mobile home community donated to our organization in July of 2013. To assist low income seniors, our mission is to rent the spaces in Baywood Village at the lowest rental rate available in the Sequim area. Currently the rent is $335 per month and includes water and septic services. In addition, all residents of Baywood Village are given a free membership to Shipley Center to provide opportunities for them to participate in enriching activities. Monies received in excess of the expenes of running Baywood Village and it's services are used towards our overall non-profit mission. Our organization opened a non-profit cafe in May of 2016 to

The Process for determining compensation of the Organization's CEO, Executive Director, top management and other Officer's or Key Employees of the Organization is currently being formalized into a written compensation policy. Some members are conversant with appropriate and competitive pay scales for nonprofit executives and key employees on the Olympic Peninsula. After recommendations by the Executive Director, the personnel committee reviews all employee compensation and benefit changes annually and reports to the full Board of Directors for approval. The officers and board members are volunteers.

Over 85 volunteers donate time valued at over $400,000 annually. At Shipley Center and the affordable Leo's Caf, senior citizens are welcome to spend time with friends and make new friends. Various services are provided free of charge, while others, like exercise classes, lectures, games and socials have modest fees. Shipley Center hosts AARP Tax Aide volunteers rent free to provide free tax preparation for over 800 people annually. Volunteers from the Washington State Health Insurance Benefit Advisors (SHIBA) provide free help with questions on Medicare, parts A, B, & D. Seniors can access free wi-fi and get help with technology at the Center.

IRS990/MissionDesc0The mission of Shipley Center is to enrich the lives of adults through social, health and fitness activities, trips, educational classes, low-income housing opportunities and referrals to community resources. As part of our mission to provide "low-income housing opportunities", Sequim Senior Services operates Baywood Village as a non-profit age 55+ adult mobile home community donated to our organization in July of 2013. To assist low income seniors, our mission is to rent the spaces in Baywood Village at the lowest rental rate available in the Sequim area. Currently the rent is $385 per month and includes water and septic services. In addition, all residents of Baywood Village are given a free membership to Shipley Center to provide opportunities for them to participate in enriching activities. Monies received in excess of the expenes of running Baywood Village and it's services are used towards our overall non-profit mission. Our organization opened a non-profit cafe in May of 2016 to

They enjoy trips to museums, plays, expos, concerts, hikes, shopping, festivals, car shows, quilting shows, cultural events, and more. Those who no longer can drive, those who cannot drive at night or for long distances, can get on the bus and enjoy socializing without worrying about driving, city traffic, or parking issues. Expenses for the bus trips include fuel, maintenance, insurance, tires, tickets to each venue, etc. All drivers are CDL-qualified and drug-tested volunteers.
