The mission of share is to lead the hungry and homeless to self-sufficiency by providing food, shelter, housing, education, advocacy and compassion through the strength of our community.

Emergency shelter, supportive services and transitional housing for the homeless.

Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 6

Membership, as provided for in share's articles of incorporation, shall be determined by financial and/or work support. Voting membership will be limited to the forty founders, current members of the monthly shareholders and the duly elected board. Members in good standing and in non-voting capacity will be individual donors in the amounts of $25 or more per year and individuals who give ten hours or more of volunteer work for share house in the calendar year.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

The organization is exempt from federal income taxes under internal revenue code section 501(c)(3). The organization recognizes the tax benefit from uncertain tax positions only if it is more likely than not that the tax positions will be sustained on examination by the tax authorities, based on the technical merits of the position. The tax benefit is measured based on the largest benefit that has a greater than 50% likelihood of being realized upon ultimate settlement. The organization recognizes interest and penalties related to income tax matters, if any, in management and general expense. The organization had no unrecognized tax benefits at december 31, 2020 or 2019. The organization files an exempt return in the u.s. Federal jurisdiction.

THE IDAS ARE SAVINGS ACCOUNTS FOR A FUTURE ASSET SUCH AS A DOWN PAYMENT ON A HOME, TO START A BUSINESS, OR TO PURSUE HIGHER EDUCATION. THERE WERE 47 SAVERS IN 2020, OF WHICH, 45 INDIVIDUALS USED THEIR ACCOUNTS TO PURCHASE AN ASSET.
