Supplemental Narrative

Additional Explanations

FORM 990, PART XII, LINE 2C:

The process has not changed from the previous year.

SCHEDULE M, LINE 19, COLUMN D:

Contributed food inventory is generally valued using a rate per pound established by the washington state department of agriculture of $1.73 per pound. In addition, food contributions received under the emergency food assistance program (tefap) are recorded at the cost as determined by tefap for the food.

SCHEDULE M, LINE 9, COLUMN D:

Publicly traded securities valued at fair market value based on publicly traded exchange.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

The internal revenue service has recognized the organization as a not-for-profit organization exempt from federal income taxes under internal revenue code section 501(c)(3) and not as a private foundation. Accordingly, no provision for income tax is necessary. The organization evaluates uncertain tax positions whereby the effect of the uncertainty would be recorded if the outcome was considered probably and reasonably estimable. As of december 31, 2015 and 2014, the organization had no uncertain tax positions requiring accrual. The tax returns for the prior three fiscal years remain subject to examination by major tax jurisdictions.

IRS990ScheduleD/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0THE INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE HAS RECOGNIZED THE ORGANIZATION AS A NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATION EXEMPT FROM FEDERAL INCOME TAXES UNDER INTERNAL REVENUE CODE SECTION 501(C)(3) AND NOT AS A PRIVATE FOUNDATION.
