4b. Housing and community support serviceskcr's homeless child and family services serve the needs of low-income families and individuals in kitsap county who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. These services include emergency and transitional housing, rental assistance, childcare for homeless families, short-term shelter in the form of motel vouchers, and case management. The energy assistance program assists low income renters and home owners with their winter heating and utility bills. Kcr's weatherization and related minor home repair program reduces the burden of energy prices for low-income residents by improving the energy efficiency of their homes. In addition, these services improve livability by correcting unsanitary, hazardous or deteriorated conditions within the home.

Activity 3

4c. Employment and trainingkcr's employment preparation and placement services improve participants' work skills and prepare them to obtain employment and achieve career goals. Community jobs provides training opportunities, support and mentoring for workfirst participants with significant barriers to employment, such as a lack of education, language barriers, or a history of welfare dependency. The supported works clients perform projects for the direct benefit of the community while gaining work skills. The workforce investment act (wia) program services any kitsap resident seeking employment or a new career field.
