Activity 2

The kitsap humane society animal shelter's mission is "rescue, rehabilitate, rehome." rescue refers to taking in stray, abandoned and surrendered pets, and providing food, board and care for those animals while at the shelter. Rehabilitation refers to medical and behavioral rehabilitation. Rehome refers to reuniting stray animals with their owners, adopting out animals left at the shelter, or sending animals out to other rescue organizations. In 2012, khs received 4,712 stray, abandoned and surrendered pets, and "rehomed" 4,300 animals.included on the organization's statement of activities was $19,140 of in-kind land rent from kitsap county.

Activity 3

The kitsap humane society shelter medicine/veterinary services provided medical evaluation, vaccinations, care and necessary treatment to animals brought to the kitsap humane society animal shelter. The veterinary services performed spay/neuter surgery on 3,751 animals. Of this total of spay/neuter surgeries,2,077 were on animal being put up for adoption, 1,674 were non-shelter animals from families who met low-income guidelines. The veterinary services department also euthanizes shelter animals who are too sick, injured or dangerous for treatment.included on the organization's statement of activities was $6,380 of in-kind land rent from kitsap county.
