Activity 2

Clothing children: includes 2 programs:clothes-4-kids: inadequate clothing can prevent a child from feeling warm, participating in activities and developing healthy self-esteem. Clothes-4-kids distributes gift cards so students can select new back-to-school clothing, coats and shoes from local merchants. For fiscal year 2013, 444 children ages 4-19 received clothes-4-kids gift cards.thrift shop: the bellevue lifespring thrift shop, located at bellevue square, provides good-quality used clothing and merchandise at affordable prices and free to those families and individuals who cannot afford to pay. Families in need receive vouchers on an as-needed basis to help provide them with work and school clothing and emergency needs items in times of crisis. The thrift shop also serves as a training ground for partnership for independence recipients allowing them to learn valuable customer service and retail job skills while gaining self-esteem and giving back to the community. The amount of program revenue from the thrift shop represents the net income from operations.

Activity 3

Educating youth and adults: includes 3 programs:educational grants: this needs-based program provides bellevue students access to higher learning in order to achieve financial stability in future endeavors. First, second, third and fourth year grants are available to support students throughout their college years. Eight youth were awarded educational grants.grads on track: poverty, hunger and instability can make it difficult for students to focus on school and graduate with their peers. Bellevue lifespring provides summer school scholarships to help students receive credits, stay on track and reach higher education. For fiscal year 2013, 59 students were awarded grads on track scholarships.partnership for independence: tuition is not the only obstacle that parents returning to school face. Partnership for independence is a comprehensive program tailored to each client's specific situation. Adults are offered the opportunity to obtain higher education or vocational training enabling them to become self-sufficient and make lasting changes in their lives. Two adults with families were enrolled in this program.
