Mission and Program Overview

Mission

Bee Regeneratives mission is to inspire and advance bee conservation on agricultural landscapes.

Our mission is to educate and inspire communities conserve bees, their flowers, and our countryside. The organization aims to conserve our bees by educating people, especially kids, on bees' importance through our programs focused on community classes and events. We have also formed unique and important partnerships to conduct bee heath and habitat research. In short we, work hard to get pesticide-free flowers in the ground to feed bees. We primarily work with two groups of people to make this happen: land managers (i.e. farmers, ranchers, & government agencies) & kids!

Program Services

DescriptionGrantsExpenses
Beekeeping Education: THROUGH OUR BEEKEEPING EDUCATION PROGRAM, WE TEACH NEW BEEKEEPERS HOW TO CARE FOR THEIR BEES, WE FACILITATE THE NEXT GENERATION BEEKEEPERS INITIATIVE, WHICH AIMS TO BRING MORE MILLENNIAL AND GENERATION X BEEKEEPERS INTO THE BEEKEEPING INDUSTRY, WE FACILITATE BREAKOUT SESSIONS AT BEEKEEPING CONFERENCES ACROSS THE COUNTRY TO DEVELOP SOLUTIONS FOR ISSUES IN THE BEEKEEPING INDUSTRY, AND WE TEACH BEEKEEPERS HOW TO WORK WITH KIDS. IN 2018, WE WORKED WITH 9,435 beekeepers and members of the public.$0$9,803
Kids and Bees: This program aims to educate the next generation of citizens on the importance of bees and inspire them to take part in the bees' preservation. Our bees provide one out of every three bites of food that we eat. No bees, no food, no us. It's also a commonly known fact that our bees are in trouble. Annual losses of honey bee colonies are in the tens of thousands. We are losing our bees at unsustainable rates. It will be up to the next generation to not only understand their importance, but to take action in their conservation. Bee Girl's Kids and Bees program teaches kids, in a positive and engaging way, why our bees are essential to everyday life and how the kids can be honey bee heroes. Students engage in interactive lessons on bees, honey, beeswax, beekeeping, sustainable agriculture, pollination, and our food. In 2018, we worked with 1012 kids through our events, school programs, and summer camps.$0$8,826
Bee Habitat Research: We work with our farming and ranching friends to find the best possible "win-win-win" solutions for farmers and ranchers, and bees and beekeepers. We are working hard to develop a low maintenance and inexpensive flower-rich "regenerative bee pasture" for ranchers to both substitute for chemical fallow, as well as to interplant in pasture for an environmentally and economically improved area for farmers and ranchers to harvest or graze. In this mix, we also hope to provide a strong nectar flow to feed bees and provide a honey crop for beekeepers. The Bee Girl organization also works with the Oregon Dept. of Transportation on their "vernal pool project" to monitor pollinator abundance and diversity, observe which forbs are the most attractive to pollinators, and also observe dynamics between honey bees, solitary bees, and bumble bees on the restoration project. We are currently working on 57 acres.$0$8,557
