OPEN STUDIOS. Clark County Open Studios Tour is a free self-guided tour as local artists open their studios to the public and share how, why, and where their art is created. This is a unique opportunity to visit artists and artisans, view diverse works, and buy pieces specifically created or made available for this event. Held in early November, beginning of the shopping season, and simultaneous to area communities First Friday walks, Open Studios included more than 50 artists. A high quality brochure is produced to illustrate artist's works and to provide maps to the various studios. The participants are judged by area artists to ensure high quality of participants. Post event, artist s are surveyed to gauge their satisfaction with the event and to suggest any improvements that might be implemented in future events.$10,332$9,105
CREATIVE RELIEF CLARK COUNTY is a program of Artstra, providing arts supplies, project ideas, and instruction to communities with limited access to the tools of creativity. Creative Relief gives people the rewarding and healing experience of creating with their own hands. Whether drawing, painting or writing, this program offers a bit of relief for both adults and children from the stress and difficulty they may be experiencing. The program encourages a positive interaction with others while providing a creative outlet from daily challenges. Creative Relief provides an alternative to the passive entertainment of TV or video games. Art supplies are often unavailable to those in need and yet there is plenty of evidence that making art can relieve stress and help individuals and families work through emotional issues. This year Creative Relief created active partnerships with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Vancouver, The Vancouver Police Department and Walmart, preparing for a July 2023 event that allowed over 50 underserved children and families to experience the pleasure of working in the plastic arts.$0$4,768
POETRY MOVES. Poetry moves is a program of Artstra in collaboration with C-Tran, providing poetry on bus channel cards in all C-Tran buses. Installed on buses initially every six months and now each year are ten new poems by local and regional poets or student poets, including those involved in the Poets in the schools program. All buses in the C-Tran fleet display two different poem cards. A diverse cross section of our community uses public transportation. Thousands of individuals, taking more than six million trips on buses per year in Clark County have needs beyond food, shelter, and physical well-being. Meeting our human need for cultural enrichment and for the kind of sustenance that feeds the soul should not be reserved for a select few. During our fiscal year, the program presents 23 different poets to riders of C-Tran. In January 2023 Artstra presented a celebration of our poets, hosting over 150 attendees and the County and WA State Poet Laureates at the Magenta Theater in downtown Vancouver, WA.$0$4,416
