Mission and Program Overview

Mission

This One's for the Gals empowers girls in grades K-12 by providing hands-on career exploration, industry exposure, and workforce development experiences designed to broaden their understanding of postsecondary and career opportunities. The organization connects students with leaders across construction, energy, manufacturing, maritime, transportation, STEM, and skilled trades through Women in Industry Expos, Girls' Day Out workshops, field trips, and interactive demonstrations. TOFTG also develops educational resources, including children's books that highlight real women in industry roles, and partners with schools, community organizations, and industry employers to ensure students - especially those in underrepresented and economically disadvantaged communities - have access to high-quality career awareness programs. The purpose of these activities is to increase confidence, expand career pathways, and support the future workforce pipeline.

Program Services

DescriptionGrantsExpenses
Women in Industry Expos and Girls' Day Out Workshops: TOFTG hosted multiple large-scale Women in Industry Expos and Girls' Day Out Workshops across the Coastal Bend, Rio Grande Valley, and Greater Houston regions. These hands-on events introduced middle and high school girls to careers in construction, energy, manufacturing, maritime, STEM, and skilled trades through interactive demonstrations, tool challenges, safety activities, and mentorship from women currently working in these roles. More than 3,000 students participated in Expos and workshops during the year, including many from underserved and economically disadvantaged communities. These programs focused on increasing confidence, building skills, and expanding understanding of career pathways traditionally underrepresented by women.$0$150,000
Children's Books and Educational Resources: TOFTG developed and distributed educational materials to support early career awareness, including children's books featuring real women working in industry roles. These books were provided to schools, families, and community organizations at no cost and were used during classroom visits, career days, and Girl's Day Out workshops. The books are designed to show younger students relatable role models and introduce them to careers in manufacturing, energy, construction, transportation, and other technical fields. Thousands of students and families benefited from these resources, helping broaden career imagination at an early age.$0$15,000
Outreach, Industry Partnerships, and School Engagement: TOFTG worked with school districts, community groups, and industry employers to expand access to career exploration opportunities. This outreach included classroom presentations, field trips, career readiness discussions, interactive tool demonstrations, and partnership events to connect students with women working in high-demand industries. TOFTG also coordinated tool donations and learning equipment to support hands-on learning. These efforts strengthened relationships with schools and helped ensure students - especially those from economically disadvantaged areas - received high-quality career exposure.$0$10,577

ReasonableCauseExplanation/ExplanationTxt0We are a small, volunteer-run nonprofit with no paid staff, and the last several months were extremely demanding as our team was fully engaged in community events, educational workshops, and outreach programs. Because we were focused on delivering these services directly to students, families, and schools, we experienced delays in gathering the financial records needed to complete the return. The delay was not due to willful neglect. As soon as we realized the filing was overdue, we organized the necessary information and are submitting the return promptly. We have also implemented improved internal procedures to help ensure timely filings going forward.
