“The organization's mission is to connect humanity in a placeless time through the power of storytelling, informed by a deep sense of history and culture across media, educational and other programming, public conversations, and innovative technologies, and it seeks to map the vast diversity of the human experience through the memories we carry and the meaning we make from them. Everyone is from someplace, and everywhere is somewhere. In furtherance of such purposes, the organization shall educate the public and build community across geographical, historical, and cultural barriers by elevating and leveraging the art of personal storytelling and other means of expression and communication using media, educational and other programming, public conversations, innovative technologies, and a range of other platforms and initiatives. At a time of fracture, when polarization is extreme and democracy is being tested, the organization will strive to teach the greater public to see and hear one another better, truer, and fuller, through the stories of place and time in our formation that reveal our common humanity and by discovering and preserving the storytelling archives of our communities before they are lost to history.”
