Form 990, Part VI, Line 11B: Form 990 Review Process

Form 990 was reviewed by the board and approved by the audit committee.

Form 990, Part VI, Line 12C: Explanation of Monitoring and Enforcement of Conflicts

All volunteers including Board Members complete volunteer packets that include a conflict of interest statement, the Board members also complete a Governing Board Member Agreement that includes a conflict of interest statement. The Governing Board Chair inquires as to any known conflict of interest statement. The Governing Board Chair inquires as to any known conflict of interest prior to any vote of the Governing Board. In addition, upon hire staff is notified that they must disclose any potential conflict of interest as outlined in the employee manual.

Form 990, Part VI, Line 15B: Compensation Review and Approval Process for Officers and Key Employees

The Governing Board Chair and executive board members have research the compensation of the Executive Director. The Board chair personally contacted other Parent Training and Information Centers to compare their pay rates. In addition the Governing Board takes into account the pay rate of like positions at a state and national level. This rate is discussed, approved and entered into the minutes of the Governing Board Meetings. There is no compensation for officers of Nevada PEP. Key Staff pay rates are developed in coordination with the Executive Director and Board Chairperson, taking into account the local and national average pay rates in the field.

OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: Nevada PEP is recognized as the Parent Training Information Center for Nevada, offering a unique set of services to families who have children with all types of disabilities. Nevada PEP strengthens families with Education, Empowerment and Encouragement through training, support and Individual Assistance. Nevada PEP is a family driven organization dedicated to educating parents and professionals throughout Nevada's 17 counties. Nevada PEP believes that the family is the fundamental unit in society, children with disabilities without regard for the severity of the disability have an inherent value that all life has a purpose, that communities benefit from providing appropriate interventions and that individuals with disabilities make a valuable contribution to society. In this fiscal year Nevada PEP has provided trainings, free of charge, to over 2,817 individuals, 96% of participants felt more confident to work with schools or service providers. During this period, Nevada PEP collaborated with other statewide organizations to address Special Education during a Pandemic. Nevada PEP has provided the parental perspective on 65 committees throughout the state, with a goal of improving local and state programs for children and their families. Over 19,084 individuals received information and support services. In this fiscal year, 1,171 new families contacted Nevada PEP for intensive Individual Assistance. According to the annual PTI National survey, 98% of respondents said they were prepared to use the information from Nevada PEP. Nevada PEP maintains two offices, one in Las Vegas and one in Reno. As a result of the pandemic in March 2020, Nevada PEP quickly pivoted to providing all of the services remotely, using virtual platforms and telephone. Nevada PEP upgraded the website and provided basic needs and COVID-19 related material for families.Nevada PEP created a new program called #SafeAllies to provide information about the impact that bullying can have on the mental health of everyone involved and empowers youth and parents to take action and seek help. #SafeAllies reaches children and youth with digital resources and youth designed activities. #SafeAllies offers training workshops on the laws and processes for reporting a bullying incident and navigatin the education system. #SafeAllies provides individual assistance and support groups for families focused on teh importance of mental health aftercare, developing positive strategies and safe allies for youth.

Nevada PEP Family Specialists provided education, advocacy, information and referral services to assist just over 4,000 families in accessing services for their children. Family Specialists provided family peer support at 288 Child and Family Team/Wraparound meetings statewide. In addition, Nevada PEP held monthly family to family support group meeting in both English and Spanish; and during the pandemic support group meetings were increased weekly. Support groups provided the opportunity for networking, sharing of resources, and emotional support and connection during the pandemic.

Nevada PEP focused on early identification by disseminating Response to Intervention brochures and information on typical early childhood development. PEP provided 11 workshops on early intervention, early childhood transition and positive behavior approaches for young children. Nevada PEP provided individual support through over 1,864 contracts with parents of children 5 years old and under. PEP provided 18 transition related trainings to increase self-awareness and self-advocacy skills of youth with disabilities, improving the opportunity for successful high school completion and transition to adult life. Nevada PEP disseminated monthly E-newsletters, containing up to date information on education, local resources, national issues and topics related to the pandemic. Also, in response to the pandemic, PEP added webinars on distance education and online safety.

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: Nevada PEP is recognized as the Parent Training Information Center for Nevada, offering a unique set of services to families who have children with all types of disabilities. Nevada PEP strengthens families with Education, Empowerment and Encouragement through training, support and Individual Assistance. Nevada PEP is a family driven organization dedicated to educating parents and professionals throughout Nevada's 17 counties. Nevada PEP believes that the family is the fundamental unit in society, children with disabilities without regard for the severity of the disability have an inherent value that all life has a purpose, that communities benefit from providing appropriate interventions and that individuals with disabilities make a valuable contribution to society. In this fiscal year Nevada PEP has provided trainings, free of charge, to over 2,817 individuals, 96% of participants felt more confident to work with schools or service providers. During this period, Nevada PEP collaborated with other statewide organizations to address Special Education during a Pandemic. Nevada PEP has provided the parental perspective on 65 committees throughout the state, with a goal of improving local and state programs for children and their families. Over 19,084 individuals received information and support services. In this fiscal year, 1,171 new families contacted Nevada PEP for intensive Individual Assistance. According to the annual PTI National survey, 98% of respondents said they were prepared to use the information from Nevada PEP. Nevada PEP maintains two offices, one in Las Vegas and one in Reno. As a result of the pandemic in March 2020, Nevada PEP quickly pivoted to providing all of the services remotely, using virtual platforms and telephone. Nevada PEP upgraded the website and provided basic needs and COVID-19 related material for families.Nevada PEP created a new program called #SafeAllies to provide information about the impact that bullying can have on the mental health of everyone involved and empowers youth and parents to take action and seek help. #SafeAllies reaches children and youth with digital resources and youth designed activities. #SafeAllies offers training workshops on the laws and processes for reporting a bullying incident and navigatin the education system. #SafeAllies provides individual assistance and support groups for families focused on teh importance of mental health aftercare, developing positive strategies and safe allies for youth.

Key Staff pay rates are developed in coordination with the Executive Director and Board Chairperson, taking into account the local and national average pay rates in the field.
