IRS990/Desc0During FY24, Restorative Arlington served our community by accepting 13 referrals to our Heart of Safety Restorative Justice Conferencing Program. The program supports victims of crime (people harmed) and people responsible for crime in exploring what happened, why, and how to move forward in ways that offer healing and practical measures for taking accountability. Staff and partners from The Restorative Justice Project at Equal Justice USA offered 2 orientation sessions for our local Public Defenders Office. In March we hosted an experiential learning session at a Symposium on Restorative Justice Practices at the US Department of Justice. RA gave a keynote panel, hosted a breakout session, and supported reflection Circles at the 2024 Restorative Justice in Education Conference hosted by The Center for Justice and Peacebuilding at Eastern Mennonite University. We collaborated with the National Association of Community and Restorative Justice (NACRJ) to design, plan, and host 10 Community Building Circles with a national group of Circlekeepers before and after the 9th national conference held in Washington, D.C. in July. Staff supported in-person Circles and offered two breakout sessions for attendees. We offered 11 Community Advisory Team meetings to offer information on our work, share updates, and create space for community and system partner stakeholders to voice their feedback. We hired two people to co-manage our Heart of Safety Program to increase both organizational and programmatic sustainability.
