Mission

The Purpose of Forsyth County AuxComm is to promote, support and lead emergency communications activities that support community needs within Forsyth County and surrounding counties. The mission of Forsyth County AuxComm is to create a team of qualified volunteer auxiliary communicators, provide training and information supporting the Incident Command System and our primary served agency, Winston-Salem / Forsyth County Office of Emergency Management. Our secondary mission is to support the needs of the local and national charity organizations with event communications and promote amateur radio within the community. Forsyth County AuxComm is 100% volunteer and 100% community funded.

ReasonableCauseExplanation/ExplanationTxt0Organization was initally improperly classified as a private foundation instead of an public chairty. Discussed situation with an IRS Specialist (Governemnt employee of the IRS). They advised to forward a paper 990EZ along with other required dfocuments for redesignation. They advised that this would sufice all requirements for filing. Further they clarified at that time that we did not have to e-file due to the redesignation request but would have to e-file from that point forward. We were following the direction of your IRS Specialist employee. Original return was sent back by IRS in Sept 2001. SInce that date, monthly we have attemtped to resubmit the return to have it rejected each time because we were not properly listed in the IRS database. Even after recieving a confirmation letter in late Sept 2001, we have resubmitted 3 times to have it rejected because of the following message: 'EIN' of the Filer in the Return Header must be established as an exempt organization filer in the e-File database. Infomation on submission: Forsyth County AuxComm EIN #: 87-3328458 IRS Submission #: 61720920222571691516 Year: 2021 Submitted on: September 14, 2022 Forsyth County AuxComm EIN #: 87-3328458 IRS Submission #: 61720920222867752898 Year: 2021 Submitted on: October 13, 2022 As of Dec 8, 2022 the IRS database still shows our organization as a Private Foundation which is the reason our return is being rejected. We are not and never have been a Private Foundation and have always operated as a Public Charity with NO PAID members or staff. We are 100%volunteer and community funded, emergency communmications organization. In Jan 2023 contact was made with IRS personnel who indicated that there was a discrepancy between IRS databases that prevented acceptance of the return. One database indicated PF and one PC. After many attempts to get this resolved the IRS Advocate was contacted through Congress Woman Foxx's office. As of Feb 23rd we were advised the issue has been resolved the to try to refile.
