Mission and Program Overview

Mission

React dc was founded in september 2021 by professional military spouses and veterans with backgrounds in law, intelligence operations, military service, education, and non-profit work. We came together to assist our afghan allies in the midst of a humanitarian crisis. Guided by core principles of empathy, fidelity, and adaptability, we are now at the forefront of innovative resettlement support operations, leading national and dc metro area programs to pilot new delivery methods, fill key gaps, and improve outcomes for refugee populations. We provide nationwide resettlement support for sponsorship and wraparound assistance for refugees, visa holders, asylees, and other newcomers in the dc metro area to help them thrive. We value partnerships with non-profits, businesses, and a core group of community and volunteer members supporting our mission. We're on the ground supporting refugee resettlement and helping refugees prepare to stand on their own.

React dc helps newcomers in the dc metro area stand on their feet.

Additional Explanations

Form 990, Part III, Line 1

From a newcomer's first steps onto us soil, react dc is there to reassure them that while their journey here was difficult, their resettlement doesn't have to be. We provide resettlement support and wraparound social service assistance for refugees, visa holders, and parolees in the dc metro area to help newcomers thrive. We value partnerships with non-profits, businesses, and a core group of community and volunteer members supporting our mission. React dc values empathy, fidelity, and adaptability. We empathize with the immense hardships afghan refugees have faced, including the trauma of forced displacement; our compassionate assistance sets a foundation of security that lightens the burden on their shoulders. Our resettlement efforts take a whole-person approach that meets immediate physiological and psychosocial needs until clients can meet them independently. We are sensitive that most clients still fear for their safety or the safety of their families abroad, so we vigilantly guard clients' privacy. Furthermore, as stewards of donor resources, we ensure the resources our donors provide us are used in the most appropriate and impactful way to do the most good possible. Our operating model is lean and nimble and executed in a manner that keeps up with a rapidly changing landscape. It contracts and expands to meet the fluctuations in our pipelines so overhead expenses are never more than the current client-load warrants. We're on the ground supporting refugee resettlement and helping refugees prepare to stand on their own. We are the community organization that answers the call.
