Project Read changes lives through literacy and empowers individuals, strengthens families, builds communities, and creates new cycles of intergenerational literacy. Project Read provides individual tutoring and small group instruction to help individuals improve their ability to read, write, compute, and use technology sufficiently to meet personal goals, function well in society, and become more productive citizens.
Project Read provides one-on-one tutoring for functionally illiterate adults in Utah County and changes lives through literacy by empowering individuals, strengthening families, and building community.

| In Fiscal Year 2015, Project Read served 74 students. 94 perCent of the Project Read students who were retested using the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) increased their skills in either reading, language, or math (75 percent of those retested achieved a level gain- a 1.0 grade-level equivalent (GLE) increase in either reading, language or math), and the average gain was 2.5 GLE. In addition, in FY2015, 82 percent of Project Read's students achieved at least one literacy-related goal. Some of the goals accomplished in Fiscal Year 2015 by students include the following: 10 entered employment, 45 retained employment, 4 improved employment/recieved a raise, 35 achieved level gains, 3 passed the TOEFL, 5 were placed in post-secondary education/training, 2 became U.S. citizens, 2 obtained a drivers license, 1 purchased a home, and 3 graduated from Project Read. 132 volunteers donated 3,943 hours and helped Project Read serve 74 students who learned skills that improved not only their own personal lives, but also the lives of their spouses and children (107 immediate family members impacted). | $99,975 | - |
