EDUCATION: UDSF PROVIDED ESSENTIAL EDUCATION SPECIFIC TO DOWN SYNDROME TO OVER 13,000 VISITORS TO THEIR WEBSITE, UDSF.ORG. UDSF PROVIDED A MONTHLY NEWSLETTER, THE LOWDOWN, TO OVER 1800 OF ITS MEMBERS. THIS NEWSLETTER PROVIDED EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES AND OUTREACH OPPORTUNITIES. DURING THE 2023 -2024 SCHOOL YEAR, UDSF'S PEER PRESENTATION TOOL KITS HELPED EDUCATE 250 ELEMENTARY STUDENTS ABOUT DOWN SYNDROME. “During 2024, the utah down syndrome foundation accomplished its mission of providing hope to individuals with down syndrome, their families, and the community through support, education, activities, outreach, and advocacy. Support: udsf provided support to 51 new and expectant parents who received a down syndrome diagnosis for their child in 2024 by delivering care packages to them and providing them with a new parent mentor. Udsf also offered support and education to these families and more through its quarterly new parent breakfasts. 394 family members attended these breakfasts in 2024. Education: udsf provided essential education specific to down syndrome to over 13,000 visitors to their website, udsf.org. Udsf provided a monthly newsletter, the lowdown, to over 1800 of its members. This newsletter provided educational resources and outreach opportunities. During the 2023 -2024 school year, udsf's peer presentation tool kits helped educate 250 elementary students about down syndrome. Udsf held three financial workshops and educated 200 parents on how to plan for their child's future. Udsf also held 3 down to learn workshops in 2024, providing more educational and reading resources to families activities: udsf provided outreach, connection, and support to over 2200 participants through its community group activities, teen activities, and young adult activities. Udsf also held three mighty steps extravaganzas in cache valley, salt lake metro, and southern utah. In 2024 udsf held monthly club teen 21 and young adult and adult activities providing support for individuals with down syndrome, ages 12-21, and 18+. These activities allowed socialization, friendship, and a place of belonging for those who attended. Outreach: udsf mailed over 950 birthday cards to its members with down syndrome. It included a gift card for a free brownie, ice cream, or cookie to help celebrate their special day. Udsf provided over 500 new and expectant parent resource guides to medical providers and new parents, to offer resources and support to families who have a child with down syndrome. Udsf provided updates, information, and outreach opportunities to over 2000 members through its social media platforms and emails. Advocacy: udsf has provided events and activities including world down syndrome day (3/21) and down syndrome awareness month (october) celebrations and their mighty steps for down syndrome extravaganzas. Through these events and activities, udsf is advocating for the down syndrome population in utah. Udsf has invited and included community leaders, family, friends, and community members throughout utah to participate. In doing so, udsf is not only advocating for those who have down syndrome but teaching acceptance and raising awareness for the utah down syndrome community.”

SUPPORT: UDSF PROVIDED SUPPORT TO 51 NEW AND EXPECTANT PARENTS WHO RECEIVED A DOWN SYNDROME DIAGNOSIS FOR THEIR CHILD IN 2024 BY DELIVERING CARE PACKAGES TO THEM AND PROVIDING THEM WITH A NEW PARENT MENTOR. UDSF ALSO OFFERED SUPPORT AND EDUCATION TO THESE FAMILIES AND MORE THROUGH ITS QUARTERLY NEW PARENT BREAKFASTS. 394 FAMILY MEMBERS ATTENDED THESE BREAKFASTS IN 2024. EDUCATION: UDSF PROVIDED ESSENTIAL EDUCATION SPECIFIC TO DOWN SYNDROME TO OVER 13,000 VISITORS TO THEIR WEBSITE, UDSF.ORG. UDSF PROVIDED A MONTHLY NEWSLETTER, THE LOWDOWN, TO OVER 1800 OF ITS MEMBERS. THIS NEWSLETTER PROVIDED EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES AND OUTREACH OPPORTUNITIES. DURING THE 2023 -2024 SCHOOL YEAR, UDSF'S PEER PRESENTATION TOOL KITS HELPED EDUCATE 250 ELEMENTARY STUDENTS ABOUT DOWN SYNDROME. UDSF HELD THREE FINANCIAL WORKSHOPS AND EDUCATED 200 PARENTS ON HOW TO PLAN FOR THEIR CHILD'S FUTURE. UDSF ALSO HELD 3 DOWN TO LEARN WORKSHOPS IN 2024, PROVIDING MORE EDUCATIONAL AND READING RESOURCES TO FAMILIES ACTIVITIES: UDSF PROVIDED OUTREACH, CONNECTION, AND SUPPORT TO OVER 2200 PARTICIPANTS THROUGH ITS COMMUNITY GROUP ACTIVITIES, TEEN ACTIVITIES, AND YOUNG ADULT ACTIVITIES. UDSF ALSO HELD THREE MIGHTY STEPS EXTRAVAGANZAS IN CACHE VALLEY, SALT LAKE METRO, AND SOUTHERN UTAH. IN 2024 UDSF HELD MONTHLY CLUB TEEN 21 AND YOUNG ADULT AND ADULT ACTIVITIES PROVIDING SUPPORT FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DOWN SYNDROME, AGES 12-21, AND 18+. THESE ACTIVITIES ALLOWED SOCIALIZATION, FRIENDSHIP, AND A PLACE OF BELONGING FOR THOSE WHO ATTENDED. OUTREACH: UDSF MAILED OVER 950 BIRTHDAY CARDS TO ITS MEMBERS WITH DOWN SYNDROME. IT INCLUDED A GIFT CARD FOR A FREE BROWNIE, ICE CREAM, OR COOKIE TO HELP CELEBRATE THEIR SPECIAL DAY. UDSF PROVIDED OVER 500 NEW AND EXPECTANT PARENT RESOURCE GUIDES TO MEDICAL PROVIDERS AND NEW PARENTS, TO OFFER RESOURCES AND SUPPORT TO FAMILIES WHO HAVE A CHILD WITH DOWN SYNDROME. UDSF PROVIDED UPDATES, INFORMATION, AND OUTREACH OPPORTUNITIES TO OVER 2000 MEMBERS THROUGH ITS SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS AND EMAILS. ADVOCACY: UDSF HAS PROVIDED EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES INCLUDING WORLD DOWN SYNDROME DAY (3/21) AND DOWN SYNDROME AWARENESS MONTH (OCTOBER) CELEBRATIONS AND THEIR MIGHTY STEPS FOR DOWN SYNDROME EXTRAVAGANZAS. THROUGH THESE EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES, UDSF IS ADVOCATING FOR THE DOWN SYNDROME POPULATION IN UTAH. UDSF HAS INVITED AND INCLUDED COMMUNITY LEADERS, FAMILY, FRIENDS, AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS THROUGHOUT UTAH TO PARTICIPATE. IN DOING SO, UDSF IS NOT ONLY ADVOCATING FOR THOSE WHO HAVE DOWN SYNDROME BUT TEACHING ACCEPTANCE AND RAISING AWARENESS FOR THE UTAH DOWN SYNDROME COMMUNITY. |
