Creating opportunities for discussion that listen to marginalized people in the running space and build reflection within the running industry to uncover and learn from systems of racism within running businesses, the running community, and the culture of running.

The running industry diversity coalition unites the running industry to improve the inclusion, visibility, and access for black, indigenous, and people of color.

These scholarships offered recipients crucial opportunities to build their networks, gain industry recognition, and pursue long-term career paths within the running industry. As a result, many have chosen to remain in the industry, advanced in their careers, and significantly increased the visibility of BIPOC individuals at an event that previously lacked such representation.

As part of our five-year strategic plan, we partnered with Bentley University to establish quantitative and qualitative baseline measures for racial diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within the running industry, focusing on employment, accessibility, inclusion, and belonging. This partnership has already led to the identification of key areas for improvement, the development of targeted initiatives, and measurable metrics and questions for the industry.

This also included our own continuous training, allowing us to stay at the forefront of industry best practices, deepen our impact, and effectively serve the diverse communities we engage with. As a result, we successfully hosted a series of educational workshops, which led to an increase in our membership, community, and impact.

This work included hosting educational seminars for companies and conferences, leading strategy sessions for partners, and executing events, which resulted in measurable growth in membership retention and participation.
