“In 2024 Super Skate Posse hosted 8 events across the United States providing youth participants with at minimum a new skateboard, new helmet new skateboarding shoes and introductory skateboarding lessons average value 350 per participant all in. Each event provided equipment to 25 to100 youth participants sourced from local non profit organizations that focus their services on youth in underserved communities. In total Super Skate Posse was able to impact approximately 600 youth directly through our events in addition to the youth impacted indirectly through community partnerships and support of other local programs. Super Skate Posse continues to expand its network to include new partners and locations, while deepening existing relationships by anniversarying events across the US e.g., Tampa, Honolulu. Its this continuity that allows us to ensure lasting impact in any of the communities we engage in. Additionally, we continue to receive support from both local community partners and skate shops. By directly engaging with established businesses in the community, we can provide ongoing access to the local skate community, who help continue our work providing a mental health outlet for local underserved youth. Super Skate Posse is also supported by local and global brands including American Savings Bank Hawaii, Trust for Public Land Hawaii, Converse, Adidas, Russell Athletics, New Balance, Triple 8, and Quantum Bearings. Super Skate Posse was born with the primary goal of bringing the mental health and wellness benefits of skateboarding to youth in underserved communities by providing the very basics for participation a board, skate shoes, and a helmet. This allows youth to take advantage of the recreational areas and skateparks often built in their own backyards that they cant always access because of the cost of participation. Beyond the equipment, through our work we are providing a new outlet and connection to a global community at no cost to program participants. The U. S. is facing unprecedented rates of teen depression, suicidal ideation, and death by suicide. Seventy percent of youth in the U. S. stop playing organized sports by the age of 13 because it is just not fun anymore. The shift away from organized sports at a critical developmental moment in teenagers lives is particularly concerning. Skateboarding has become a mechanism for adolescents and teenagers to stay active and find community. IF THEY CAN AFFORD IT.Super Skate Posse removes the cost barrier to entry, allowing access to these benefits to youth in woefully underserved communities nationwide, creating bonds of friendship between participants of all backgrounds, ethnicities, and genders. ALL ARE WELCOME HERE. We tour the country, giving complete skateboards, clothing, skate shoes and protective equipment to underserved youth at each of our events, supported by pro and amateur skateboarders who introduce the basics of skateboarding. Our goal is to engage the broader community, providing mentorship, encouragement, connection, and ongoing engagement with the skateboarding elders in their community.”
