Mission and Program Overview

Mission

To alleviate extreme poverty in Ethiopia by investing in people and developing their ability to help themselves by funding sustainable grass-roots community projects that develop new skills in people and then leverage these skills in entrepreneurial opportunities that generate income while preserving and protecting the natural environment and biodiversity of the communities. Dir Biyabir is incorporated and registered as a charitable organization in the state of California. Dir Biyabir also funds emergency relief for civilians in Ethiopia affected by famine war and epidemics.

The salaries were so low that some staff members were forced to find other jobs. All programs were held in a local community library about 75 children benefitted, $4218\| Dairy Farm Feasibility Study: this project provided funding to study the feasibility of our project implementation partner starting a dairy farm in Ethiopia so that they can sustain themselves independently, $1299\| Partner Operating Expense: this project provided funding to supplement the salaries of the staff of our project implementation partner in Ethiopia. The salaries were so low that some staff members were forced to find other jobs. With the salary raise from this funding the key staff were retained. 6 staff members benefitted from this project, $5864\| The N.Shewa Biruh Aemro Scholarship provided funding to purchase blankets sheets and other college dorm necessities for top graduating rural high school students in N. Shewa Ethiopia The number of students in the program increases every year in 2024 there were 26 students, $6313\| N Shewa Rebuilding focused in 2023 to help communities in in N. Shewa Ethiopia rebuild after war in much of Northern Ethiopia from 2020 - 2023 Number of beneficiaries =200, $7146\| School girl sponsorship: this project provided funding to sponsor underprivileged kids to go to elementary school high school and college by funding their stationery and other necessities. Total 154 girls benefited, $3565\|
