IRS990EZ/PrimaryExemptPurpose0Sojourns is a program of cultural enrichment. The program combines homestay living accommodation, intimate language classes, and cultural seminars. Participants engage with a new and vital culture.
IRS990EZ/ProgramServiceAccomplishment/DescriptionProgramServiceAccom0Due to the current economic conditions as well as the illness and death of one of the founding officers, Sojourns was unable to provide programs this fiscal year. In previous years,Sojourns Abroad provided participants with an intensive gap year educational experience. Students lived full-time in another culture during each of the two semester programs. Each participates in an active home-stay experience with an indigenous family; studies local language five days a week; develops an independent study project; participates in weekly seminars on the local culture, a weekly evaluation seminar and attends lectures and presentations by local experts. This is by structured study trips twice a month and local excursions to sites of historic and cultural interest. Upon completion of the program, participants begin or return to full time study at American colleges and universities.
