Supplemental Narrative

Financial Statement Notes

Part X, Line 2:

The Organization is exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(C)(3), as confirmed by a determination letter issued by the Internal Revenue Service, and is classified as other than a private foundation under IRC Section 509(a)(1). Accordingly, no provision is made in the accompanying financial statements for federal and state income taxes. Income from certain activities not directly related to the Organization's tax-exempt purpose; however, may be subject to taxation as unrelated business income. Management is not aware of any matters which would cause the Organization to lose its tax-exempt status. Management has considered its tax positions and believes that all of the positions taken in its federal and state exempt organization tax returns are more likely than not to be sustained upon examination. The Organization's returns are subject to examination by federal and state taxing authorities, generally for three and four years respectively, after they are filed. The Organization recognizes interest and penalties related to unrecognized tax benefits in management and general expenses in the accompanying financial statements. During the years ended June 30, 2016 and 2015 the Organization did not recognize any interest or penalties.

IRS990/Desc088-CRIME Inc. supports the Pima County Attorney's Office 88-CRIME program through fundraising for rewards, approving recommended rewards, participating in and supporting school education and public awareness programs to prevent crime and to encourage the reporting of crime by the members of the public.88-CRIME, operated by the PCAO, provides an anonymous telephone number, text number and website for the Southern Arizona community to provide information on unsolved felonies, which is then forwarded to law enforcement to investigate. With any arrest the caller receives up to $2,500 in reward money. 88-CRIME works closely with all media, which highlight fugitives, cold case homicides and other felony crimes by means of television, radio and newspapers. In addition, the organization collaborates with schools by providing visual materials and information to students to educate grades K-12 on how to anonymously contact 88-CRIME to report illegal or suspicious activities at their school.

IRS990ScheduleD/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0The Organization is exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(C)(3), as confirmed by a determination letter issued by the Internal Revenue Service, and is classified as other than a private foundation under IRC Section 509(a)(1).
