“In the fourth quarter of 2021, the Economic Hardship Reporting Project EHRP received its nonprofit determination letter and began the process of separating from its fiscal sponsor. EHRP became its own non-profit organization, instituted by its inaugural board, to commence independent operations as of January 1, 2022.”

In Hawaii, our fellow Kristin Consillio broadcasted several segments on Hawaiis housing crisis on KITV, the ABC affiliate in Honolulu. We commissioned a first-person essay by Katie Prout in the Chicago Reader that looked at the lack of mental healthcare access for Medicaid patients.”

“Continued EHRP also supported five journalism fellows who received contracts guaranteeing them at least four assignments in 2021.”

“Continued EHRP produced its first podcast series, Going for Broke with Ray Suarez, featuring writers who had first-hand experience with economic precarity, including eviction and homelessness. The series was honored by the Webby Awards, won a Sigma Delta Chi Award from the Society of Professional Journalists and an Excellence in Financial Journalism Award from the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.”
