“The maui hub is a nonprofit, community-based, organization whose primary mission is to provide local fresh affordable produce to maui low income residents, food banks, and community kitchens. This is accomplished through an online-based food distribution system which connects local farmers and producers to consumers. Consumers place orders through the online platform. The platform then generates purchase orders for farmers, who harvest produce and make deliveries to a centralized distribution center. Orders are the picked and packed, placed in refrigerated trucks, and driven to pick-up locations for customers. Maui hub will set up an ebt point of sale account to process snap benefits, enabling eligible low-income families to purchase produce. Maui hub's focus is to register and serve as many snap eligible customers as possible. Maui hub also provides produce to the maui food bank. Unlike traditional retailers, maui hub's aim is not to maximize profit but rather to provide as much food assistance to the community as possible. Accordingly, maui hub's business model -- including the produce carried, geographic locations of pick-up areas, and pricing of goods -- is geared towards these charitable goals. Maui hub generally offers produce at lower prices than other retail establishments while providing farmers and food producers fair pricing for their goods.”
