Form 990, Part I, Line 1

Started in honor of caitlin o'hara, the leo project is a us based non-profit organization supporting the leo project community based organization (tlp cbo), a kenya-based organization. The leo project believes that equitable access to education and healthcare is a human right. In a world where birthplace, socioeconomic status and gender dictates your ability to go to school or seek medical care, the leo project believes that everyone should have the right to access educational and health services. We are piloting, implementing, and sustaining programs as a means to unite, empower and - most importantly - drive social change. Partnership forms the core of the leo project's five-part impact model - youth programs, adult programs, community outreach and engagement, the caitlin o'hara community health clinic, and the leo local youth hub. Through collaboration, we leverage the strength of an international network of experts and avoid replicating existing efforts. Our curated partnerships allow us to refine our approaches and expand our reach via access to established organizational infrastructure and tested programs as well as opportunities for consultation and feedback. The leo project cbo's impact model is as follows: adult programs at tlp's educational resource center: we offer a variety of programs at our multi-purpose resource center for adults within the community. Programs include: computers and digital literacy, entrepreneurship programs,, literacy and numeracy as well as women's economic empowerment groups. Youth programs at our cohort of primary and secondary schools: with youth and adolescence at the center of our mission, we have partnered with ten primary and secondary schools within laikipia county to provide weekly on-site programs including digital literacy, reproductive and sexual health, female empowerment, mental wellness, creative arts and conservation. Community outreach & engagement: as a community-based organization, the leo project derives strength from the students and families we support. Through regular community outreach, we evaluate and reevaluate the needs of our neighbors, consult with community leaders, gather feedback, and recruit new program participants. Made possible by our partners at wellaware, we are providing reliable clean water access through a roadside water kiosk. The borehole is monitored and maintained by our water committee, a group of community members assigned to represent the water-related interests and concerns of our neighbors and to ensure the sustainable operation of the kiosk. Leo local youth hub: leo local is a creative co-working space offering youth and young professionals free access to computers and wifi, professional development opportunities, sexual and reproductive health and mental health services. Leo local maintains a culture of collaboration, inclusivity and non-judgement. By encouraging conversation about wellness and self-care, we are determined to alleviate stigma surrounding mental health. Via conversations on wellness, supplemented with tangible skill-building, we can empower young adults to live healthy, balanced lives. To maximize the potential of this initiative, leo local hosts local and international subject-experts to lead a diverse offering of seminars and workshops. The caitlin o'hara community health clinic: kenya has a shortage of well-equipped, community-based medical facilities. The covid-19 pandemic as well as extensive conversations with local leaders and candid feedback from the kenyan ministry of health evidenced and reaffirmed the need for reliable community health services. Poor road conditions, limited access to transportation, and under-resourced clinics and dispensaries impede access to quality care. Designed by our partners at build health international, the caitlin o'hara community health clinic sits adjacent to our resource center and will administer comprehensive, equitable, and sustainable health services while prioritizing maternal an

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0STARTED IN HONOR OF CAITLIN O'HARA, THE LEO PROJECT IS A US BASED NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION SUPPORTING THE LEO PROJECT COMMUNITY BASED ORGANIZATION (TLP CBO), A KENYA-BASED ORGANIZATION.
