Mission

Ubuntu Community Catalyst UCC seeks to create a platform that provides the structure and process for concerned citizens to appropriately respond to the critical needs identified by community residents and stakeholders. The geographic focus area includes municipalities in the South Fulton County GA region. Our overarching goal is to 1 increase resident civic engagement with local community faith-based organizations 2 Supplement the capacity of community faith-based organizations schools government and private sectors to engage the support of their communities and 3 Generate revenue; earned individual public & private support to sustain the effort.

Due to budget constraints Ubuntu's work focused on 2 focus areas in 2020, BMH and HA. Grant funds were used to incentivize resident participation in completing surveys, interviews, focus groups, and building organizational infrastructure to operate, and engage community virtually. Behavioral Mental Health Community Action Team (BMH-CAT) The BMH-CAT 2020 annual work plan focused on collecting primary data from residents in the following targeted zip codes: 30315, 30337, 30344, 30354. The purpose of the assessment was to determine and understand the following: The mental health drivers, types of BMH issues, and available resources for residents The types of BMH issues faced by residents in the targeted zipcodes The population by segments in the targeted zip codes experiencing BMHissues Create anasset-basedmap of BMH resources available to residents in the targeted zipcodes.Validate or identify potential strategies, initiatives and activities to improve the BMH of residents Highlights of BMH-CAT Activities and Accomplishments 2020 1. Recruiting and engaging eight (8) residents to participate in BMH-CAT activities 2. Engaging CAT in the process of designing BMH survey instrument 3. Inviting community-wide residents to share their concerns and feedback by completing the online community survey 4. BMH-CAT members willingness to adapt and meet virtually via Zoom and Microsoft Teams 5. Developing CAT members skills around collecting and analyzing data and developing strategies to improve better outcomes 6. Garnering one hundred and seven (107) responses in the data collection process 7. Successfully engaging and involving community partners$41,667$26,251
Housing Affordability Community Action Team (HA-CAT) Not unlike the BMH-CAT, the HA-CAT also engaged its CAT members virtually.Their 2020 plan focused on assessing the community in the same targeted zip codes of 30315, 30337, 30344, 30354. The HA-CAT administered the data-collection process with the following aims and methods:On-LineSurveysto capture lived experiencesof housing insecurity 1-on-1Interviewsto capture thedrivers;of housing insecurity; and Focus Groupto surfacepossible solutionsfor housing insecurity Highlights of HA-CAT Activities and Accomplishments 2020 1.
