“The sangre de cristo chorale rehearsed weekly from september to may and performed three different repertory concerts for its 40th season of concerts, one during the fall in october 2017, one in december 2017, and one during the spring in april 2018. Each repertory had one performance each in los alamos and santa fe, new mexico, serving a total of 650 persons. Due to the resignation of the music director at the end of the previous season, each concert repertory was prepared by a different contracted guest conductor with the assistance of contracted accompanists. Three outreach performances were given during the month of december servicing an additional 350 people. Also, as part of its outreach program, it educated three apprentices, who participated as regular chorale members, and provided one scholarship to a high school student pursuing continuing musical education at the college level. During the year, the chorale leadership and members continued to work the 2016 five-year strategic plan. Accomplishments during the challenging year, with no music director and a 40th anniversary celebration to plan, included some highlights based on goals and measures set. They included: an artistically successful year with growth in individual responsibility of membership for rehearsal preparation and favorable response from audiences to the year's programs under our guest conductors; a celebration event with returning alumni singers; continued use and updating of the new web site, ticketing and credit card sales management, and new accounting software tools; and continued support of our outreach activities. Also, during the year a search committee actively searched for a new music director making its recommendation to the board in june and the board hiring a new music director fred graham starting july of 2018.”
