Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 28

The sangre de cristo chorale rehearsed weekly from september to may and performed two different repertory concerts, one during the fall in december 2015 and one during the spring in may 2016. Each repertory had one performance each in los alamos and santa fe, new mexico, serving a total of 500 persons. Each concert repertory was prepared by the chorale's new music director andrew schmidt, a finalist for the position, who was chosen after serving as one of two guest conductors the previous season as part of the search process. The new music director was contracted to serve for the current fiscal year by the board of directors as well as a new official accompanist. Members of the chorale also provided outreach to the choral program at santa fe public schools in one session in both the fall and the spring. As part of its outreach program it educated eight apprentices, who participated as regular chorale members, and provided two scholarships to high school students pursuing continuing musical education at the college level. As noted above, the chorale's two year search for a new music director was completed in july of 2015. Prior to the beginning of the 2014-15 season, the search committee for a new music director had identified two candidates to complete semester-long auditions of rehearsals and performances. During each semester a survey of singer members was made to evaluate each candidate on five criteria. At the end of both semesters each member voted on their recommendation. The search committee completed its work in june of 2015 and the board hired schmidt starting july 1 of 2015. The board of directors had launched in the fall of 2014 an organizational committee structure as proposed by the work of the visioning and reorganizational committee. The committee assigned specific tasks to members which formalized the investment required from individual members in terms of performing specific tasks involved in the operations of the chorale. This process was also evaluated by survey and some slight modifications were instituted in the fall of 2015. During the current fiscal year, the board also completed a strategic planning process and submitted a new three-year plan for approval in july 2016.
