The new mexico humanities council (nmhc) supports and conducts innovative and imaginative programs throughout the state that lead to a greater understanding of, and motivate interest in, the richness of our human experience and heritage. We inspire in both residents and visitors an appreciation for the rich diversity of land, people, and ideas, providing the foundation on which to build a better future for us all. We seek out and fund quality humanities programs for presentation to public audiences throughout the state. Through our grants program, we support worthy projects and organizations which deal with topics ranging from local history and culture to international affairs. These programs enrich the cultural lives of the state's citizens. Nmhc conducts speakers bureau and grant programs. Other programs include national history day in new mexico. Finally, nmhc engages in stand-alone initiatives that bring current humanities topics to the public. Bringing the humanities to the public
