The CPA preparing the 990 sends an electronic copy of the draft form to the Executive Director, the President, and Treasurer of the board. These officers review the form and submit any additions or corrections to the CPA> The 990 as it is to be filed is then reviewed by the entire board prior to being filed.

Statement of Revenue Part VIII

Unity Shelter formed with the intent of integrating the Mens Shelter, Room at the Inn at the Womens Shelter, and SafePlace in the first year of incorporation. However, integration of Room at the Inn, which operated under the fiscal sponsorship of the First United Methodist Church (FUMC)in Corvallis, was delayed until January 2021. Due to this delay, Room at the Inn finances are not represented in this filing, as they were under FUMC throughout 2020.

IRS990/Desc0In our first year, Unity Shelter combined three separate housing programs into one. We formally established Unity Shelter as an organization and converted from a seasonal to a year-round emergency shelter. We also added hygiene center services to assist clients. The mens shelter typically serves 50 adult men nightly, though capacity was reduced in 2020 to accommodate COVID oncerns. The shelter provides a safe place to sleep, showers, laundry service, and a light meal nightly. The Hygiene Center was opened at the beginning of the pandemic, and operates 7 days a week to provide showers, laundry, and food services to men and women who are unsheltered.

Additional locations hosted by area churches are typically up to 4 microshelters. Case manageent and other supports are provided to facilitate transition from SafePlace to more permanent housing.
