The CLIC Foundation was formed to advance childhood cancer research, namely through providing resources to the Childhood Cancer and Leukemia International Consortium (CLIC). CLIC is a group of international researchers who study the role of environmental, genetic, and other risk factors in causing childhood cancers. Specifically, the CLIC Foundation will support CLIC by: 1)facilitating inter-disciplinary, collaborative scientific meetings; 2)developing the infrastructure needed for data pooling and analysis operations; and 3) promoting and enabling dissemination of results.

| Our activities in 2022 were primarily directed toward the CLIC Genomics Project and the CLIC Scientific Annual Meeting. Our accomplishments were as follows:1. We continued to passively obtain donations from individuals via the CLIC/CLIC Foundation website.2. We were awarded external funds from the National Cancer Institute and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for pooling and analyzing existing genomic and non-genomic data for childhood leukemias from CLIC studies and publicly available data sources.Overall, this research effort is called the CLIC Genomics Project, and it will help accelerate data-driven discoveries about the underlying genetic and non-genetic causes of childhood cancer among diverse populations worldwide. The CLIC Genomics Project is now underway, and it involves one coordinating center, three analysis centers, and 13 contributing centers (including the CLIC study institutions). Project implementation initially has been focused on all centers obtaining necessary ethical approvals and executing required data transfer and use agreements, while the coordinating center has been developing research documents, protocols, and programs to be used by the contributing and/or analysis centers. We also submitted grant applications to two other childhood cancer foundations foradditional resources to facilitate pooling and analyzing data for selected childhood solid tumors. These grant applications were not funded.3. We planned and conducted the CLIC Scientific Annual Meeting held in Barcelona, Spain from October 3-5, 2022. The meeting included working sessions on current CLIC research projects, as well as future scientific directions and priorities for the consortium. The meeting was generously supported via external National Cancer Institute, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and Children with Cancer UK Foundation grants and a Love Your Melon gift.Note: These accomplishments meet the first, second, and third purposes of the CLICFoundation as described in the Articles of Incorporation. | - | - |
