Duty to disclose: The responsibility for identifying potential self-dealing of conflict of interest rests with the Member. Each Director and Officer must evaluate whether potential self-dealing or conflict of interest exist and if so, must disclose all relevant facts and circumstances to the Directors. IRS990/Desc0EYElliance is exclusively focused on driving global and national strategies to bring eyeglasses, and the benefits associated with clear vision, to the one billion people who need them. They do this by orchestrating systems-level change through four global and national strategies.1) Institutional advocacy: Ensuring the issue area is prioritized on the agendas of key actors within the global development community;?2) Government delivery: Enabling governments to efficiently integrate eyeglasses into public health and education systems by systematizing proven models of delivery; 3) Sustainable financing: Influencing and increasing new and existing financing within the public and private sector; 4) Catalytic partnerships: Growing the ecosystem of champions uniquely positioned to help solve the problem at scale.Government delivery: In Liberia, EYElliance has integrated proven solutions into two government systems: Education and Health, delivering eyeglasses in public schools and through community health workers at national scale. With additional technical assistance provided by NGO partners, Liberias Ministries of Health and Education have screened nearly 200,000 school children and provided a pair of glasses to those students who need them. EYElliance successfully advocated the Liberian Ministry of Health to include the training of community health workers to screen for vision problems and dispense reading glasses into national policy and programs. As a result, approximately 4,000 community health workers will be trained to reach 1.2 million individuals living in remote communities with basic eye care.Institutional advocacy: In partnership with the WHO, EYElliance developed a community health worker training module that will be available as an e-learning course on the new WHO Academy platform. The module, reaching 10 million learners around the world by 2023, trains community-level workers to conduct basic eye screenings, dispense reading glasses, and identify & refer individuals in need of advanced eye care. As part of the World Bank's Disability and Education series, the World Bank and EYElliance co-authored, Looking Ahead: Visual Impairment and School Eye Health Programs.Sustainable financing:In 2018, EYElliance secured front page coverage in the Sunday edition of the New York Times on the global unmet need for eyeglasses and the negative impact associated with uncorrected vision. This article directly led to increased prioritization of the issue area by the US Government including and a new funding allocation deployed through USAID.Catalytic partnerships:EYElliances work played a key role in the inclusion of school eye health in a new program area at The Clinton Health Access Initiative. Today, EYElliance and The Clinton Health Access Initiative are joining forces to ensure that school children with poor vision are able to obtain the eyeglasses they need to succeed in school.
