Mission

Mara foundation's general objectives are charitable and educational within the meaning of internal revenue code section 501(c)(3). Its mission is to identify, encourage, and promote the interests of promising young persons in literature, screenwriting, directing, playwriting, and other artistic fields through educational forums, symposia, networking with mentors and established professionals and others in similar fields, and to provide grants for study, travel, and specific projects of merit. Mara foundation also promotes the cause of women's rights both in and outside the united states and foster public awareness, understanding, and appreciation of women in literature, screenwriting, directing, playwriting, and other artistic fields through educational events, symposia, and other means.

BECAUSE EVEN ESTABLISHED (NOT TO MENTION YOUNG UP-AND-COMING) ARTISTS USUALLY STRUGGLE FINANCIALLY AND HAVE LIMITED MEANS, THE FOUNDATION FULLY FUNDS THE VENUE, INSURANCE, DINNER EXPENSES, AND OTHER COSTS OF EACH SYMPOSIUM, SO THAT THERE IS NO ENTRANCE OR OTHER FEE FOR ATTENDEES.HOWEVER, AND EXCEPT AS DESCRIBED IN THE FOLLOWING PARAGRAPH, ATTENDEES PAY FOR THEIR OWN TRAVEL, LODGING, AND OFF-PREMISES MEALS. THE FELLOWSHIP SOLICITS SUBMISSIONS FOR THE FELLOWSHIP PRIZE THROUGH THE SAME MEANS BY WHICH ITPROMOTES THE SYMPOSIA IN THE PRECEDING PARAGRAPH.
