“2021 continued to be the year of the pandemic. Together Washington built a coalition in order to respond to the needs of underserved families during the pandemic by distributing "Family Emergency Kits." The coalition consisted of Seattle Public Schools, Seattle Parks and Recreation, Urban League of Seattle, World Vision and other non-profit partners. Together Washington set up distribution sites across central and south Seattle and over the course of the next 12 months distributed 74,000 Family Emergency Kits, which consisted of fresh food, shelf stable food, essential items (hand sanitizer, face masks), and educational resources for children. Many of these distributions also consisted of free lunches, free clothing, and free sports equipment which many of our non-profit partners donated. The amount of food distributed in the kit would serve a family of 5 for one week. Together Washington was able to serve 370,000 people during this time. Together Washington also began to produce a podcast in 2021 to tell the stories of inspiring community leaders who are building the common good. Many of our podcast episodes went viral and over the course of the year, 21 episodes were distributed with 275,000 downloads.”
