FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION

Mothers without borders offers hope in developing countries by strengthening local communities in their efforts to: 1) strengthening local communities to care for their children in crisis. 2) empowering women and youth with education, literacy and business skills. 3) providing holistic care for the most vulnerable women and children in these communities. We teach principles of conscious living, personal growth, and self-reliance to inspire each individual to be the best version of themselves. We focus our work in zambia, africa where we partner with local organizations to bring hope to the most vulnerable women and children in these communities. We believe in creating locally led, love inspired programs focused on long-term, sustainable outcomes. We value local wisdom and recognize the importance of identifying the needs of our zambian community by seeking input and direction from our lusaka staff. We believe that love is at the center of all that we do and is essential to providing sustainable, individualized care.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4A

Children's resource center - zambia (crc): the crc is a transition center where the children live until we can find them a safe home with relatives or until they turn 18 years old. Starting as a small program with 14 children who were rescued off the streets, the crc has since grown to support more than 338 children over the 13 years of its operation who have been brought in from situations of abuse, abandonment, trafficking, or the death of parents. While in our care, we focus on providing healthy family- centered relationships and encourage each child to discover a love for education and community service and to develop their hobbies and talents. During 2021, we cared for 56 children in residence providing education, food and all health-related needs; including hiv treatment, grief counseling, access to caring adults, skills training, and recreation therapy.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4B

Education: on our lusaka property, we operate a school-the carol zulu primary school-for 571 children from the surrounding community. Our primary school is proud to have a 100% pass rate on the seventh grade national exam, where the national average is 65%. This school provides education through seventh grade, after which a number of our students continue on to our 17 to self-reliance and be that girl programs which provides higher education and vocational training sponsorships, as well as youth mentoring. In 2021, 307 youth were empowered through these programs-more than a 500% increase in participants from 2020-and 13 of those participants were placed in foster care homes. These programs aim to support the dreams of each child and inspire hope for their futures as they transition to adulthood. Additionally, we empowered 315 women from the surrounding community in sewing and business skill training. We provided part or full time employment to 97+ zambians during 2021 who run all programming in zambia- providing income to the families of each of the 97+ employees and ensuring our programs are led by local wisdom.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4C

Food relief: over the past few years, zambia has experienced severe increases in starvation and malnutrition due to the covid-19 pandemic and ongoing drought. Much of our programming this year focused on pairing education and community support with food relief to bridge this gap. In 2021, we provided more than 833,682 meals in zambia. This included a substantial food relief program to support vulnerable communities as well as 3 community school feeding programs that serve an average of 650 children each day. These school feeding programs have led to increased enrollment at each of the partner schools over the past year. We have continued to expand our agriculture project to ensure the sustainability of our programs amidst future crises. This included a goat and duck project, expanded chicken co-op project, expansions in our agricultural farming, and increased opportunity for vocational and skills training for those living at and near our property.
