“We offer hope to orphaned and vulnerable children by nurturing and caring for them as if they were our own. We focus our work in zambia, africa where we partner with and support local organizations, empower women, and care for the most vulnerable children. We provide food, housing, and education for children while also offering adult caregivers literacy and business skills training.”

“Children's resource center - zambia (crc): the crc is an orphan care center designed to serve as a transitional residence for children found living in abusive situations, child-headed households or on the streets. In most cases they have undergone tremendous loss and are experiencing serious health problems as a result of malnutrition, abuse, and neglect. During the fiscal year, we cared for 52 children in residence providing education, food, all health-related needs; including hiv treatment for 9 of the children, grief counseling, access to caring adults, skills training, and recreation therapy. In addition, we operate a school for 425 children from the surrounding community. We sponsored 53 students in secondary school and increased the number of students we teach from 261 to 425. We employed 44 zambians during the fiscalyear to run our programming in zambia. We also empowered 300 women in sewing and business skill training.”

“Relief supplies: we collect and distribute relief supplies in zambia. During the fiscal year, we collected in excess of 13,600 pounds of relief supplies including but not limited to education and skills training supplies, sewing machines, yarn, crochet hooks, fabric, clothing, bed sheets, diapers, tools for gardening and construction, seeds, shoes, recreation equipment, school and reading books, computers, office equipment, furniture, feminine hygiene kits, clean birthing kits, and hygiene kits. These items were distributed to local zambian agencies working with orphaned and vulnerable children, women's clubs, and schools. We also used our man-powered drill to dig a new well on our property to increase access to clean water.”

“Volunteer expeditions: we rely on volunteers to accomplish much of our work in zambia. For many of the echildren we serve having a caring adult to guide and nurture them is a rarity/ during the fiscal year, we hosted 136 volunteers of all ages and from all walks of life. These volunteers spent time teaching children in villages, communities, street kid centeres, and orphanages a variety of life skills including reading, preparing food, personal hygiene, hiv and aids awareness, caring for and repairing clothing, gardening, crocheting, sewing, and carpentry. The presence of volunteers helps orphaned and vulnerable children better understand their value and learn the skills necessary to make valuable contributions to their communities when they graduate from the program. They also helped with land maintenance by slashing grass, built part of a playground for the new school, harvested and shelled corn in preparation for grinding, and helped expand the crc gardens. In three separate villages they taught literacy, sewing, and crocheting and conducted feminine hygiene training workshops.”
