“Fairview band boosters organization mission is to provide financial and logistical support to the fairview high school bands which is not provided by the school district. The organization is comprised of parents, students, faculty and community members dedicated to assisting the band.”

“The purpose of the fairview band boosters organization (fbbo) is to support the students and staff in whatever ways may be required. We are enthusiastic about continuing the tradition of excellence that has been handed down over many years. Running an organization of this size requires a great deal of money so much of our support is financially driven. The school district provides physical facilities and a director, but less than 1% of our funding. So we must raise the funds necessary to pay for other staff, uniforms, music and drill writing, flag instruction, festival and competition entry fees, instrument and equipment purchase and repair, and transportation. Fairview high school offers one of the most extensive band programs in colorado. The program is directed by travis keller and is supported by numerous volunteers and professionals. Being in the band at fairview high school means students have the opportunity to participate in the following activities: marching band: fairview's marching program is supported by a host of professional marching band instructors as well as parent volunteers. Over the past 5 years,the fairview marching band has placed in the top three in the state marching band competition numerous times. Marching students are required to spend time outside of school preparing for marching competitions. The marching band season runs from august through late october, at which time the band comes inside and transitions into concert band season. Marching students are required to spend time outside of school preparing for marching competitions. During the marching season, students spend about 300 hours outside of regular school hours practicing for competitions. Concert band: the fairview concert band program has become one of the elite concert programs in the state of colorado and is made up primarily of two groups: the concert band, and the more advanced symphonic band. Additionally, students in the symphonic band may audition for our most elite group called the wind ensemble. Each student also has the opportunity to participate in a small chamber groups as a subset of the other bands. The concert bands perform at a number of school events, as well as participating in concert band competitions. Fairviews top concert band is a perennial qualifier for the colorado bandmasters association state concert band festival, which is open to the top 24 concert bands from the cba regional contests. Over the past 5 years, the fairview concert bands have received straight superior and superior with distinction ratings at this regional contest multiple times. Jazz program: the jazz program at fairview offers students at all levels the opportunity to learn and grow with the jazz idiom. Rigorous instruction takes place in the classroom four times per week during a regularly scheduled class period. In addition, students can audition to play in smaller jazz combos that meet each week for a double period on block day. The program offers students of all levels the opportunity to learn and grow with the jazz idiom. Student musicians are challenged to combine their musical talents in the making of big band sound, while also being encouraged to pursue cooperative efforts in the smaller ensembles, as well as individual solo work. Fhs jazz bands are renowned for getting high marks at festivals and workshops and can boast all state jazz band players each school year. For the 2019/2020 school year the marching band placed 3rd in colorado state marching competition. For the mile high jazz competitions: fairview received superior ratings for all jazz bands except jazz 3, which received an excellnet rating. Cba concert band:symphonic band received a superior rating from all three judges and concert band received excellent ratings from all judges.”
