Activity 2

Service centers: dav has three service centers in grand junction, denver, and colorado springs which provides free services to veterans. These centers are in place to assist all veterans fill out claims for compensation and va benefits. This year, there were 1,174 intitial contacts, 5,074 phone calls, zero field visits, 930 new power of attorneys, va benefit information were given to 13,191 veterans, there were 3,249 claim submittals and contact regarding miscellaneous benfits to 13,191 veterans.

Activity 3

Dav hospital programs consist of over 500 volunteers providing rides to veterans to and from their homes for medical appointments, consisting of chapters in working in hospitals, clinics and community events. Juices and candy are donated to va hospital chemo centers. Food, clothing, and personal items are donated to the homeless programs and va nursing homes. Donations were also made to the winter sports clinic which is a joint event between the veterans administration and dav to sponsor, transport, and teach recently disabled veterans at snowmass colorado for one week of learning adaptive physical skills.
