“As part of the process of preparing Tios for Hope, IRS Form 990, the treasurer shared and reviewed the form with Tios for Hope financial committee. The treasurer then shared the form with the Board members and answered the Board's questions. The form is distributed to each board member. Upon receiving board approval, the form 990 is filed with the IRS.”

“The Tios for Hope board monitors conflict of interest once at year at the first quarterly board meeting.”

“Pursuant to and consistent with IRS regulations, Tios for Hope makes copies available of its applications for recognition of exemption through its website (tiosforhope.org) as well as on an as requested basis. Tios for Hope makes its annual return available for a period of three years. The return includes all information furnished by Tios for Hope to the IRS on Form 990 as well as all its schedule, attachments, and supporting documents, except for the name and address of any contributor to Tios for Hope. In addition, governing documents and conflict of interest policy are available on the website.”

“Tios for Hope, Inc. made grants to select foreign charitable organizations not recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as public charities. In making such grants, Tios for Hope complies with the requirements of the Internal Revenue code 4999(C) and makes an equivalency determination as described in Treasury Regulation Section 53.4945-5(A) (5) (1) and performs expenditure responsibility as described in 4945(H). In performing expenditure responsibility, Tios for Hope 1) undertakes a pre-grant inquiry with reasonable determination that the intended grantee is capable of fulfilling the charitable purpose of the grant 2) executes a grant agreement that includes spending and reporting responsibilities and commits the grantee organization to spend the funds only for the specified charitable purposes stated in the grant agreement, 3) requires the grantee organization to submit to Tios for Hope regular status reports on the expenditure of the funds and the progress made in fulfilling the charitable purpose of the grant, and 4) reports each such grant to the IRS on its information return (Form 990) with requisite accompanying description in compliance with Treasury Regulation 53-4945-5 (D). Tios for Hope complies with the Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) regulations, and therefore, any grants made to foreign charitable organizations must not violate OFAC's country-based sanctions programs. Further, charitable grants must not involve trade or transaction activities with sanctioned targets named on OFAC's list of specifically designated nationals and blocked persons. Each grant is ultimately subject to Tios for Hope due diligence procedures (including review of the recommended grant receipt and the recommended purpose of the grant) and the approval of the Board of Trustees of Tios for Hope.”
