| Awareness and Promotion of Early Childhood Development & Education:From conception to the first 1,000 days of life, our brains develop more and faster than at any other time in our life. So, what happens in those early years of life has a big impact on the rest of your life. Getting these fundamental foundational blocks right is of utmost importance, since everything else in life builds on this. Everything from the environment you grow up in, to the wellbeing/knowledge of your primary caregivers (typically your parents) has a dramatic impact on the future trajectory of the rest of your life. This is the focus of RS11 Foundation. This work is commonly referred to as the two generation approach, because we not only need to focus in on the healthy development of the unborn and newborn child (field of research know as Early Childhood Development or ECD for short), but we also need to focus in on the development of the primary caregiver.Society currently and historically has focused predominantly downstream (reactive mindset) like trying to address homeless, incarceration and crime, opposed to going upstream (prevention mindset) to search for the source/root cause of the issue. RS11 Foundation is going upstream, focusing on and investing in early childhood development and education. If society invests a $1 in the early years (in ECD) of ones life, society as a whole will save $7 to $17 downstream from reduction of homelessness, incarceration, mental health issues, chronic health issues, poverty, etc.The challenge is to find out what works without reinventing the wheel. We start with large philanthropists and foundations with a proven track record and perform research, conduct interviews and site visits to gain an understanding of:1) How they vet the programs that they invest in and support2) Their best practices3) How they measure impact4) Their research5) Their finances6) What works and what doesnt7) What programs are effective and not effective and why8) What cultures and management styles of the various organizations work the bestThese processes were then applied to organizations operating in the ECD space to identify those with the most potential for making the most impact from increased financial support. Then we promote these organizations through outreach and our website.Due to the COVID pandemic, our 2021 activities were postponed. | - | - |
| Webpage DevelopmentWebpage development is in its early stages and has been primarily conducted by dedicated volunteer IT professionals. The goal is to develope a webpage that provides donors with the knowlege necessary to direct their funding where it will do the most good. By explaining why early childhood development is so critical to a sucessful life, how and why we choose our vetting process, and those entities that we have analyzed that are doing it right, we hope to focus efforts, physical and financial, at the cause instead of the symptoms. | - | - |
