“In response to the unprecedented attack on trans communities at the state legislatures throughout our region - Arkansas, Missouri, and Kansas, Transformations launched the Liberation Tour in spring 2023 to amplify the voices of trans girls and trans women of color during this critical time. Through the Tour, we engaged local trans communities of color throughout our region, identifying what our community members need to survive and thrive in these times, building networks of support, and shifting the narrative on these bills. In 2023, Transformations established its Community Advisory Board, composed of trans-BIPOC leaders who offer their expertise and insights to guide and shape the organization's work. The Community Advisory Board forms our core team of leaders that we rely on for our on-the-ground work, including leading our Liberation Tour across the Midwest and Ozarks in the summer of 2023, hosting healing and mobilization campaigns across our region, and working closely with trans women of color to do intentional storytelling and narrative shifting work in response to the anti-trans legislation and violence that are prevalent in our region. CAB members meet every quarter to discuss organizational priorities and community needs so that Transformations' programming centers and empowers those who are most marginalized in our communities, especially young trans women of color who are living with HIV, engaging in sex work, and/or living in survival mode.”
