“2019 was the first full year of operation for the interoots initiative. Organizational work in 2019 centered on essential capacity building as interoots assembled the infrastructure it will need to carry out its mission. This internal effort included but was not limited to: cultivation of a support base through a robust grassroots campaign, achieving 501(c)3 classification, origination and implementation of all internal organizational processes, and the generation of a wide array of tools to carry out the interoots mission in the long-term. Beyond intensive and necessary work on infrastructure, interoots also engaged in preparatory work, in partnership with the community of kasasa, uganda, for its pilot project: the tat sat community academy. This included an initial "seed grant," which was awarded to the community to lay the groundwork for its project vision. During this "incubation" phase, interoots also generated wide-ranging programming systems that it will utilize for years to come with other projects. Interoots' work in 2019 was funded completely by an initial contribution of 100,000. No funds raised in 2019, beyond the initial contribution, were used for organizational development and associated costs. Funds raised in 2019 will only be utilized after tat sat community academy project programming begins in april 2020 when full-scale programming expenditures initialize.”
