“Conduct research, perform studies, collect data, and catalyze scientific progress and innovation to create impactful solutions and discoveries for the benefit of the public; engage in activities that bridge science, technology and human values through cross-disciplinary collaborations; coordinate with other organizations to integrate unique expertise and research findings for the purpose of bringing together critical human and material resources to solve challeging community problems; support scientific research and innovation by empowering scientists and researchers, working collaboratively, in a quest to seek solutions to a myriad of issues and problems in areas dealing with neuroscience, human values, empathy, altruism, well-being, and mental health; sponsor public discussion forums, activities, and conferences; provide a repository of knowledge for the community; support young as well as experienced researchers and professionals derived from the countries of brazil and united states to pursue higher scientific and human delovepment goals; disseminate and share information to educate the public, institutions of higher learning, public policy makers, organizations, and other scientists and researchers regarding the findings of the institute; study and understand the nature of human empathy, altruism, and fulfillment and how these attributes can be nurtered, advanced, and improved in the human population for the benefit of society as a whole; identify and support creative, unorthodox, and promising scientific and technological approaches that often lack support from conventional sources that may be productive and useful in advancing societal, scientific, and technological improvements for the benefit of communities of people; develop new and fascinating technologies and methods for inferring cognitive and emotional states in human beings, involving at some levels, for instance, an undestanding of the relationship between human brains and artificial intelligence found in machines; and promote and provide fellowship programs, scholarships, workshops, and cross-institutional exchanges that advance the purpose of the trust.”
