“The Pacific Beach Coalition (PBC) is dedicated to preserving the ocean, coastal habitat, and wildlife,and ending litter through advocacy, education, community building, and citizen action. This mission is achieved with the following programs:”

“STREET-TO-BEACH PROGRAM:As a result of the Pandemic in 2020,PBC began this self led cleanup program where individuals or those in the same household can cleanup their local streets, parks, shopping centers, and beaches. This is a digital program that is growing nationally and leverages the Clean Swell App to gather important data helping further drive impact and change with local government and other organizations.”

“MONTHLY BEACH CLEANUPS AND HABITAT RESTORATION:PBC volunteers and naturalists host monthly beach cleanups across 10 beaches, as well as monthly Habitat Restoration. Volunteers from the public experience hands on impact of litter and receive education on how to help prevent litter. Results are documented and used to drive impact and change with local government and organizations.”

“EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM:For additional outreach and education on ending litter and the impact to our environment, PBC offers schools and education organizations in-person assemblies, virtual talks, education resources and teacher modules for youth and adults. PBC maintains digital and material content for use in hosted events, displays, and self-hosted educational sessions.”

“EARTH DAY & COASTAL CLEANUP:Twice a year(April & September), PBC hosts extended cleanups to emphasize the impact of litter and educate the public on changes they can make to help end litter. Activities include regular site cleanups, expanded cleanups, and additional habitat restoration to cover beaches, streets, parks and shopping centers by volunteers in as many locations as possible.”

“EARTH DAY ECOFEST: EcoFest is an Educational Festival for environmental groups to inspire and educate people of all ages with speakers, awards, music, and refreshments.”

“GROUP GIVE BACKS:PBC Naturalists and staff host private group team building events with an immersive experience including beach cleanup, habitat restoration, and education. Groups typically include businesses, schools and social groups. Results are documented and used to drive impact and change with local government and organizations.”

“Total of $9,316 for in-kind donations expense is primarily prizes for our raffle at Surf Movie fundraiser, as well as some donated buckets and gloves used for cleanups.”
